Mary Kom has left the Bigg Boss 20 house after seven weeks. In her first interview since, she spoke openly about the show and her time inside. She also criticised her 2014 biopic with Priyanka Chopra, saying it showed very little of her real struggle.
Mary Kom opens up after Bigg Boss 20 exit
As reported by Indian Express, she explained to SCREEN why she signed up for the show, soon after the eviction. As a longtime viewer, she was curious about experiencing the entire show from the inside. Besides that, she hoped viewers would recognise the parent and ordinary individual behind the champion.
Rohit Shetty, who stepped in as guest host, revealed her exit on Weekend Ka Vaar once her lifelines were gone. The housemates then sang an emotional farewell song for her, and Amrapali Dubey broke down in tears. Meanwhile, the boxer stayed cheerful, wished the others well and told them to keep up their game. In total, her seven weeks covered nearly half of the planned 105 days.
However, the stay was not always comfortable for her. She admitted that a few moments felt offensive, and she said her limited Hindi made it difficult to communicate. Earlier, she had a tense exchange with Mahhi Vij over her contribution to the game. Even so, she generally seemed to prefer staying calm over creating unnecessary drama.
Why the biopic fell short for the boxer
The most striking part of the interview was her opinion about the 2014 film. In fact, she thinks several moments on screen drifted from what she actually lived. As she put it, “Only 10 percent of my struggle and hard work was shown in it.” Naturally, that is a remarkable claim from someone whose life inspired the entire film.
Mary Kom said readers who want the complete picture should turn to her autobiography Unbreakable. Still, her remarks as quoted focus on the storyline and not on the lead performance. Before all this, Priyanka Chopra had sent a video message at the premiere, urging her to simply be herself.
Moreover, she sees no reason for a second film, since her story is already widely available to audiences. In general, one film can only fit so much of a life, and biopics often trim real events for dramatic effect. As a result, someone who lived every year of that journey may feel the screen version fell short.

What Mary Kom wants from the road ahead
Looking ahead, the boxer sounded calm about what comes next. As for the years ahead, she hopes life treats her kindly, though she admits the details remain unpredictable. Meanwhile, as people wonder about a new romance, she stressed that any such step would be her own call. Overall, her tone stayed hopeful rather than bitter.
Her stint on the show also appears to have helped her shake off some long-held stereotypes. She said many viewers had long doubted her ability to prepare meals or manage a family home. Because the cameras followed her for weeks, she feels viewers now understand who she truly is. Ultimately, she believes her behaviour across the stay spoke for itself.
For now, Mary Kom leaves the house with a clear message that her story runs deeper than any screen version. At the same time, Bigg Boss 20 carries on without her. Still, viewers who want to judge for themselves can watch the film, read the book and follow her next move.
